어릴 적, 처음 카메라로 나뭇잎을 찍던 순간을 아직도 선명하게 기억합니다. 그때부터 사진은 제게 단순한 기록이 아니라, 지나가는 시간을 붙잡고 그 안의 감정을 오래 바라보는 일이었습니다.

I still vividly remember the first time I photographed leaves as a child. Since then, photography has never been a simple act of recording for me, but a way of holding time and staying with the emotions that pass through it.

저는 인물을 마주할 때 표정보다 눈동자와 호흡을 먼저 봅니다. 셔터가 눌리는 순간은 곧 지나가지만, 그때의 공기와 떨림은 오래 남는다고 믿습니다. 사진은 그 짧은 찰나를 붙잡는 일이 아니라, 그 안에 머물던 감정의 온도를 남기는 일에 더 가깝습니다.

When I face a person, I pay attention to the eyes and the breath before the expression. The shutter closes in an instant, but the air and tremor of that moment often remain much longer. For me, photography is not only about capturing a fleeting second, but about preserving the emotional temperature that lived within it.

제게 포트레이트는 누군가를 바라보는 방식이며, 동시에 서로가 서로를 응시하는 짧고 진실한 만남입니다. 저는 그 순간을 통해 사람 사이에 남는 거리, 친밀감, 그리고 말로 다 설명되지 않는 감정의 흔적을 기록하고 싶습니다.

Portraiture, to me, is a way of looking at someone and also a brief, truthful encounter in which two gazes meet. Through that encounter, I try to record distance, intimacy, and the traces of feeling that cannot always be explained in words.
