About the Exhibition

A still image,
a cinematic experience.

《Static Cinema 2026》

Static Cinema 2026 explores the meeting point between photography and cinematic language. Through light, framing, atmosphere, gesture, and time, the exhibition considers how a single still image can suggest movement and narrative while preserving memory and emotion.

Rather than documenting cinema itself, the exhibition asks how a photograph can function as a cinematic experience. Artists from different generations and regions approach this question through documentary, portrait, staged, conceptual, and experimental photography.

The Work

Lover 2019

In Lover (2019), Jeon Yoonyoung captures two figures overlapping through motion and color. The work considers love, intimacy, distance, and touch, holding the flow of emotion and an unseen before and after within a single still image.
